1954 MG TF 1250 – SOLD

MG TF 1250

This lovely example was first registered in June 1954, is in excellent condition throughout and is a real delight to drive.  It is an original right-hand drive, home market car, with factory fitted disc wheels and we have a Heritage Certificate confirming its build date, chassis and engine number etc.  It is well finished in an attractive mid-red shade, with complimentary biscuit coloured interior including leather seats, and the all black canvas weather gear is in very good condition, including side screens.  The bodywork is excellent, with well-fitting doors and bonnet.  The interior, seating, carpets and door cards are good, and there is a brand new, original style steering wheel.  The car starts on-the-button and drives very well indeed, having the benefit of a 5-speed gearbox and probably the best brakes we have encountered on any TF.  It was restored in the 1980s with further work carried out in the late 1990s including a rebuild of its still-original engine.  The underside is very clean and tidy and has obviously been restored at some stage.  There are four excellent tyres on the original, good condition, disc wheels.  Flashing indicators have been fitted for safety and these are incorporated in the side lights.  There is even a period style front lamp and driving lamp, together with additional side mirrors.  All in all, a very crisp example, ready for immediate use.  Comes with file of paperwork and V5C.

1946 MG TC – SOLD

MG TC 1946

We are very pleased to offer this splendid MG TC for sale, in a very fitting shade of dark British Racing Green, complimented by silver wire wheels and oatmeal double-duck hood, side screens and half tonneau cover.  The car is in very well-maintained condition, having been restored in the 1980s with a further refresh over the last couple of years, including new rear wings, a repaint and the fitting of new weather gear.  The interior upholstery is very good, as is the chromework.  The dashboard is a delight as is the Brooklands steering wheel, and everything seems to be working correctly.  The structure of the car appears to be very good, with well-fitting doors and wings.  The underside is workmanlike, well maintained and well protected.  The XPAG engine starts well and runs sweetly and a very pleasant drive down the road reveals that the car performs very well with nice, quiet gearbox and back axle.  This is definitely a car to be used and enjoyed.  It has just had an MOT – valid to April 2024.  Comes with original instruction manual, many MOT certificates, continuation book from 1956 and current V5C.

1978 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1978 MGB GT with Overdrive

This is an excellent MGB GT with full length Webasto sunroof and Overdrive.  The same family has owned this car since 1993, but it has been off the road in dry storage for a number of years, and we are just completing the recommissioning work, which will include a full year’s MOT. The bodywork, including paintwork, is excellent, having had restoration work carried out in 1991, including full sill replacement, full front wings and rear quarters.  The interior is also very good and original, including the headlining.  The car has covered only 62,500 miles from new.  There is a file of paperwork with invoices, V5C, original Leyland passport and original handbook.  Other paperwork includes old V5s, old MOT certificates, handbook, workshop manual and spare parts book.  This is an historic vehicle, so no tax to pay.

1949 MG TC – SOLD

MG TC 1949

A lovely old MG TC, having been regularly used throughout its life.  We understand that the car belonged to a doctor between 1964 and 2016 – so some 52 year ownership – during which time it was restored by the good doctor.  The car has a lovely patina – the paintwork is a little tired in places – and the green interior is nicely mellowed. The mechanics are good and the structure of the car also appears to be good.  The underside is very clean and tidy indeed and good and sound.  The car starts easily and drives well with its original type XPAG engine and 4-speed gearbox.  Good oil pressure, no overheating and charges properly.  Wheels and tyres are all in good order as are the hood and side screens.  Indicators have been fitted for safety – a very neat job.  All ready to use and enjoy.  A delightful old car ready for regular use.  Original log book and continuation book, V5C, Manual and some really lovely old black and white photographs of the car in the 1960s.

1974 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1974 MGB GT with Overdrive

Just out of short-term storage, this very attractive MGB has been in the same family ownership since 1979, and has been very much enjoyed over the years.  First registered in August 1974, the V5C shows a total of only 5 keepers and the very comprehensive paperwork file includes an invoice from The Regent Autocar Company Limited of Market Harborough, for the sale of the car in July 1979 ‘for £2,300, as seen, tried and approved’.  The car is finished in striking Citron Yellow, with black vinyl roof incorporating a very good condition Webasto fabric sunroof.  The interior which is original, is black, and in fairly good condition.  The headlining is good.  The car starts easily and runs and drives very well, with smooth overdrive, good oil pressure and no untoward noises.  The under-bonnet area is original, so could be improved, the underside appears sound and indeed, the MOT history is very good.   The Minilite wheels are in very good condition, good battery and exhaust.  However, the car is priced as it is, because it is in need of a little care and attention to the bottom of the front wings and the nearside windscreen pillar.  At some stage, the sills appear to have been replaced and Waxoyled.  The castle sections have been repaired.

All in all, this is an excellent starter classic or first MGB, at a very good price – a car that is ideal for using and improving.

Other paperwork includes V5C, old V5s, old MOT certificates, handbook, workshop manual and spare parts book.  This is an historic vehicle, so no tax to pay.

1937 MG TA – SOLD

1937 MG TA

This lovely old car was first registered in May 1937 and has had a number of owners, all of whom appear to have cared for it very well, including a fairly extensive rebuild in the late 1970s by the highly respected Naylor Brothers.  The rebuild at that time included a new body tub (so it has well-fitting doors), mechanical work and a retrim.  We think the car must have been repainted again in the late 1980s/early 1990s, as the condition of the paintwork is good, with just a few blemishes.  The interior has remained in excellent condition, with the original type seats and correct specification door cards, and a nicely trimmed rear luggage space, with side screen box.  The hood is in good shape with no rips and a good, clear back window.  The dashboard still retains all the correct dials and even has – albeit a replacement – the petrol tap for switching to the reserve tank, and the steering wheel looks to be nearly new.  The chrome work is very good.  This car appears to have had three engines in its lifetime, the current one being a very good upgrade – a 1548cc overhead valve 55 bhp MG VA engine (type TPBG).  We think the gearbox is also from an MG VA, resulting in very good performance and a more relaxing drive.  The car starts well and runs smoothly  with nicely operating clutch and brakes.  The underside is clean and tidy, although a fresh coat of black Waxoyl would greatly improve it.

Comes with good history folder with many invoices, old continuation book and V5C.

This is an excellent car to begin your pre-war motoring adventures – buy the car of your dreams – you only live once!
