1946 MG TC – SOLD

1946 MG TC

Looking splendid in its original colour of MG Red (sometimes known as Regency Red), this is an excellent, well restored example of the iconic MG TC, and according to the DVLA, it has had only two owners from new.  The first kept the car until 2004, when it was sold to the current custodian.  Prior to 1989, when it completed the London to Cannes Great British Film Rally, this car was extensively restored, with new body tub and wings, and was fully reupholstered, to include quality canvas hood, side-screens and half tonneau, and leather seating.  Between then, and 2004, it covered only 12,000 miles.  During this time, it was well maintained and improved, including unleaded head, steering overhaul, the fitting of reconditioned carburettors and new Dunlop 19” wheels.  The current owner has maintained the car in the same manner, with the work being carried out by a local classic car specialist, all detailed in the file.  The current condition of the car is very good, with nice paintwork (just the usual few blemishes), excellent chrome and first class interior and weather gear.  Even the scuttle masking board is still in situ – nearly always missing these days.  The engine bay has been repainted in recent years, so is very good, and the underside is as clean as a whistle.  The car runs well with plenty of performance and everything working as it should – nice gearbox and clutch with synchro on 2nd, 3rd and 4th – a pleasure to drive.  The paperwork file also includes old MOTs, original instruction manual, old V5 and current V5C.

You can see a short video of this MG in action on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

1977 MG Midget 1500 – SOLD

1978 MG Midget 1500

First registered on 16th May 1978, and built 30th November to 1st December 1977, this is a very attractive MG Midget in Carmine red with tan interior, in good condition.  It has obviously undergone restoration in recent years, including a full respray and it would appear that a reconditioned engine has been fitted at some stage.  The body panels are all excellent and the door fit is perfect, the underside is very sound.  The car starts easily and runs and drives well, with good performance, excellent oil pressure and no overheating.  Transmission is good  and quiet.  The interior is original, we think, and again, in very good order.  In addition to the black vinyl hood, there is a hood cover and full tonneau.  This car is very nice to drive and enjoy, and will no doubt prove to be a lot of fun.  MOT to 22nd September 2024, and the paperwork file includes V5C, handbook, workshop manual, Heritage Certificate, some old invoices and old MOTs.  These Midgets really are great value for money, and this is no exception.

1977 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1977 MGB GT with Overdrive

We are pleased to offer for sale this superb example of the ever-desirable and practical MGB GT.  First registered in August 1977, it has covered just over 85,000 miles.  It has been extremely well maintained by the current and previous owners, after its extensive rebuild in 2008-2010.  The restoration included all the necessary body repairs and a full repaint, the mechanics were rebuilt, including the engine, and the interior was re-trimmed, to include leather seats.  There is a good history file detailing the work, along with three folders of photographs.  The paintwork is very good indeed with excellent finish and just a small, minor blemish.  The interior, again, is extremely good, including door cards, headlining and carpets, and it has now developed a lovely patina.  The underside of the car is as clean as a whistle, as is the under bonnet area.  Driving this car is a pleasure, with excellent performance, oil pressure just as it should be, no overheating, and all running smoothly, including the overdrive.  The car handles well, with recent maintenance work to the suspension. It stands on Minitor wheels which are like new, with quality Pirelli tyres all round.  All in all, an excellent car with good paperwork and MOT – ready to go.

1973 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1973 MGB GT with Overdrive

You would have to go a long way to find an MGB GT in such original condition/specification.  This example was first registered in April 1973 and has had only three owners since then, the most recent, for almost 43 years.  This is a matching numbers car, and it has been properly maintained throughout its life, including body restoration some years ago.  The car is just about as it left the factory ie no unnecessary modifications or pointless accessories – it retains its original Rostyle wheels, steering wheel, dashboard and upholstery.  The bodywork is in very good condition, with nice paintwork and well-fitting doors – just a few age-related blemishes.  The underside is in very good order having been regularly Waxoyled since its restoration, and the sills have also been injected with oil.  The original ochre coloured upholstery does show some signs of wear, but it would be nice to preserve this for as long as possible.  Excellent original headlining.  This car is a pleasure to drive, with easy start-up, good performance, no strange noises, very smooth overdrive, good oil pressure and no overheating.  It still retains its original high quality Leyland bumpers – no nasty cheap replacements.  Comes with good file of paperwork, original hand book and workshop manual, V5C.  All in all, a very nice old motor – and we are looking for a good respectful new owner!

1980 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1980 MGB GT

According to the Heritage Certificate which accompanies this car, it was built on 19/20th November 1979, and finished in Vermillion Red, with silver and grey trim, together with Rostyle wheels and overdrive. The car is in very good condition and comes with MOT to 16/10/24, with original Handbook and Passport to Service issued by the original supplier, Rocar of Huddersfield.  There is a good history file going back to 1987, detailing previous owners and the work carried out over the years.  During its life, the car has had extensive restoration, including inner and outer sills, wings, a repaint and the rebuilding of the mechanics including engine, overdrive etc., all resulting in a very useable example which is structurally excellent – the underside of the car is very, very good indeed. There are a few blemishes in the paintwork which could be attended to in due course, but nothing major.  This is a great car to drive, with plenty of power and upgraded suspension (lowered and fitted with Spax shockers at the front), working overdrive.  The oil pressure is good, the gearbox is nice and tight, the back axle is quiet.  The interior is very good with original seats, walnut dashboard, and as you can see, there is a sunroof.  Wheels and tyres are good, and everything seems to work as it should do.  Very good value at the asking price.
