1949 MG TC – SOLD

1949 MG TC

We are very pleased to offer for sale, on behalf of a good customer, this terrific example of the ever-popular MG TC.  We can tell you that Ruby, as she is affectionately known, is an absolute delight to drive, having just collected her yesterday and driven her some 12 miles back to our garage.  The car was restored in 2019 to an excellent standard, including full body strip down and paint, new upholstery and overhaul of all mechanics including the fitting of a slightly tuned XPAG engine by George Edney MHG.  Modifications to the engine include fast road cam, balanced fly-wheel, Arolight pistons, modified cam followers, and reboring of the block to 1346cc – the result is much improved power.  The gearbox was fully rebuilt at the same time.   On the road, this 1346cc car behaves very well and has been fitted with the well-known modification of a VW steering box, which greatly improves the steering – and we now go along in a straight line!!  The car sits on four nearly-new Blockley tyres on excellent wire wheels.  As you can see from the photographs, the car has been fitted with telescopic dampers – an after-market modification.  The overall condition is very good indeed, with excellent paintwork, unmarked interior, good canvas hood and side screens (hardly used) and a very clean and tidy underside.  Comes with V5C and large file of paperwork including receipts, old MOTs etc.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for othe interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1939 MG TA – SOLD

1939 MG TA

A lovely old MG TA which has been in the same family for some 29 years, during which the car has been well maintained.  The car was extensively restored by a previous owner, which we think included a new body tub, a repaint, new upholstery and an overhaul of the mechanics.  Two very good modifications have been made to the car, namely, the fitting of a transverse friction shocker at the rear and more recently, the vast improvement of the steering by changing the steering box to a more modern one (not VW as normal – we will tell you what it is if you buy the car!!).  The result of all of this is that the car drives better than any other TA we have ever driven.  There is an invoice in the file from 2017 for an overhaul of the engine, and a new clutch was fitted in 2021, together with a service of the braking system.  The paintwork is generally in good condition with some aging as you would expect, the upholstery is good with nice oxblood-coloured seating and black carpets – the latter of which are a little worn.  The PVC hood is in pretty good condition, as is the tonneau cover;  the four side-screens are in need of a revamp.  The underside is nice and sound.  The five wire wheels are all nicely stove enamelled.  Driving the car is a pleasure – plenty of power, easy gearbox and clutch and as already mentioned above, very good steering.  The car is priced to reflect that it would benefit from a full service, and that a few jobs need attending to – nothing major.  Comes with V5C, two old log books, a buff continuation book from 1957, and old MOT certificates dating back to 1986.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for othe interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1985 Citroen 2CV Dolly – SOLD

1985 Citroen 2CV Dolly

We have sold a few Citroen 2CVs over the years and must say, this is the best we have ever seen.  It was restored to exacting standards between 2018 and 2021 from an abandoned ‘field find’.  The extensive restoration, which included many, many parts – too many to list – resulted in a better-than-new car and it has been well maintained by its current owner, who has a wealth of experience with these cars.  Everything about the car has been well done, including the first class, original specification paint job in its original and quite rare red and grey.  The interior and folding canvas roof are both like new, and the boot and engine bay again, are in lovely condition.  The underside, including its new galvanised chassis and fully restored mechanics is of course, very good and the engine itself, which again, was fully rebuilt, runs like a sewing machine, giving plenty of power for the car to run along in modern traffic.  The gearbox, which came from a Citroen Ami (apparently a stronger box than the original) has been rebuilt and fitted.  Other major items included new braking system, exhaust, clutch, shockers, tyres, ignition … the list goes on.  Driving the car is great fun and the unusually-positioned Citroen gear lever is a joy to use.  There is bags of space in this car for all the family and a good-sized luggage – to boot!!  Comes with MOT to August 2025 with no advisories, V5C, workshop manual, handbook, USB memory stick detailing the restoration, and we also have a copy of the 2CV GB News monthly magazine from October 2021 featuring an 8-page article covering the rebuild.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for othe interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1950 MG TD – SOLD

1950 MG TD

This early TD, manufactured in 1950, is finished in a most attractive shade of red, with black interior and weather gear.  Originally, this car was exported to the USA from new, returning to the UK in 1991, when it was properly converted to right-hand drive.  The previous owner had the car for some ten years, during which time it was well maintained – there was even a strip-down body repaint, a job very well done.  The body panels all fit well, including the doors, the chromework is generally good, the black leather cloth interior is in nice condition and the dashboard instruments including steering wheel, are all good.  The vinyl hood is in very good condition as are the side screens, and all go up easily.  There is a canvas tonneau cover, again, in excellent condition and a good fit.  In the last few weeks, we have fitted a replacement gearbox and overhauled the brakes, including new front shoes, and have had the car MOTd.  New tyres were fitted very recently onto the original 1950 specification wheels with chrome hubcaps.  Flashing indicators have been fitted for safety, otherwise, the car seems to be in very original specification.  The underside is good and sound.  The car starts easily and runs well with very good performance, good oil pressure and no overheating – it is a delight to drive.  Comes with paperwork including old Invoices, old MOT certificates and current V5C.  An excellent value car.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for othe interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1981 MGB GT LE – SOLD

1981 MGB GT LE

This is not just an ordinary MGB … it’s one of the last Limited Edition GTs made, and has been upgraded with Stage II Ivor Searle engine complete with HS6 1.75” carburettors, parabolic springs, Spax dampers to front and rear, electronic ignition, full stainless steel sports exhaust, and fitted with quality Avon tyres all round.  The result is a great driving car with bags of power and really good handling – but that’s not all – the bodywork is in excellent condition with good paintwork, well fitting panels and good structure.  According to the large file of paperwork, the car was extensively restored between 2006 and 2009, and at some stage, has obviously had a full, professional (and very well done) paint re-spray in its original Pewter Grey.  The interior, which now has leather sports seats, is in fine condition, including carpets, headlining, door cards and dashboard.  As you can see, it is fitted with a Moto Lita style steering wheel and the original LE-type wheels have been retained – from the outside, the car looks to be totally standard.  Comes with MOT to April 2025, original handbook, workshop manual, and V5C.  All ready to go!
