1949 MG TC – SOLD

1949 MG TC

An extremely nice example of the ever-popular MG TC, which has had a fortune spent on it in recent years – from 2018 to 2021, some £33,000 was spent on a very thorough and well-executed restoration of the car.  Work was carried out by Yorkshire Restorations to a very good standard, and included a full body and mechanical restoration.  The paintwork is superb and the underside of the car is in particularly good order, as is the engine bay.  The upholstery was also renovated and a brand new mohair hood and side screens, which all fit extremely well, were included.  The result is a car that not only looks ‘the bees’ knees’, but also drives just as it should with strong engine, quiet gearbox and back axle, and good brakes for a car of this age – it really is a pleasure to drive.  The car retains its original XPAG engine (fully rebuilt).  The matching tyres are hardly worn and the wire wheels are in good condition.  This example was originally sold by University Motors in August 1949, and there is an enamel badge on the dashboard to this effect.  All relevant invoices for the restoration work are included in the accompanying file, together with current V5C and instruction manual.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for othe interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1973 MGB GT V8 with Overdrive – SOLD

1973 MGB GT V8

This excellent example of the highly desirable factory V8 has been in the same ownership for the last 41 years, and during that time has been stripped down and meticulously restored and improved, resulting in a very fine motor car indeed.  The restoration began in 1995 and continued for a number of years.  The work included an extensive body rebuild, incorporating new three-piece sills, front wings, rear half wings, and all the other areas usually requiring attention.  The mechanics have been overhauled, the wheels replaced, stainless steel exhaust has been fitted, along with plumbed-in power steering, electronic ignition and uprated front discs and callipers.  As you can see from the photographs, the opalescent dark blue paintwork is in excellent condition.  The interior has been improved with walnut dash and centre console, and has been professionally upholstered including part-leather seats.  The headlining is like new and quality factory-type footwell mats have been fitted.  The underside is in excellent structural order and is very clean and tidy – nothing to do there.  The engine bay is nicely detailed.  The powerful V8 engine, which still has its original cast iron manifolds and pancake air filters, runs as sweet as a nut.  Driving the car is an exhilirating experience, with lots of power, smooth gearbox, overdrive and back axle, and very efficient brakes.  The five matching tyres are all pretty much like new.  Comes with V5C, Heritage Certificate, file of invoices and old MOT certificates, workshop manual and handbook.  MOT to August 2025.

1978 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1978 MGB GT with Overdrive

We are pleased to offer for sale this very good example of a late model MGB GT, which has just – reluctantly – come out of long-term ownership.  The car was extensively restored around 20 years ago, at the beginning of that ownership, including mechanics, engine and bodywork.  Since then, it has been very well maintained and remains in very good order mechanically, bodily, and cosmetically.  Well finished in its original colour of Brooklands Green with black interior, and now with leather seats.  Door cards, headlining, etc are all fine.  The underside of the car is clean and tidy and structurally very good.  Five recent, quality, Uniroyal tyres on undamaged Minilite-type alloys finish it off very nicely.  The black rubber bumpers are in excellent condition and an LE-type front spoiler has been fitted.  The car drives very well with good performance, nice quiet gearbox and back axle, and very responsive, smooth overdrive.  The under bonnet area is good, as are the luggage area and boot floor.  All the body panels, including doors fit well.  Comes with extensive history file full of old invoices, old MOT certificates, guarantee for Gold Seal engine fitted some years ago, British Leyland Passport and handbook.  V5C, and MOT to August 2025, so all ready to go.

1954 MG TF – SOLD

1954 MG TF

This is a very interesting example, originally supplied to the Lancashire police force in 1955 (obviously, black at that time), who used the car until 1959 when it was sold on.  This is an original 1500 model, but later in its life, at the time of its extensive restoration, a 1250 version of the XPAG engine from another TF was fitted.  For the following 40 years, the car went ‘under the radar’ but we have paperwork from 1999 onwards.  In the years leading up to 1999 and for some years afterwards, the car was completely restored, including new body tub, reconditioned ‘Fast Road’ engine with unleaded head, installation of a 5-speed gearbox, interior re-trim, full repaint, and full overhaul of mechanics.  Four good tyres are fitted on to first class disc wheels – nice to see these for a change.  The result is an excellent car which has been kept in very good condition by its various custodians, including the current owner who has had the car since 2017.  The chrome work is in good condition, the under-bonnet area is clean and tidy and the structure and underside of the car are in good order.  Driving the car is a delight, with very good performance and the nice 5-speed gearbox, which makes the car very usable in today’s traffic.  Good oil pressure, no overheating, nice quiet suspension and transmission, all in all, a very good car.  Comes with file of paperwork, including photograph of it in its police livery, V5C, MOT to April 2025 and verification document from the MG Car Club.

1933 Austin Seven RP Box Saloon – SOLD

1933 Austin Seven RP Box Saloon

A very good example of the iconic Austin Seven – everyone has had one, still has one, wants one or will have one during their classic car life (we couldn’t bring ourselves to use the word ‘journey’!!) The car’s current owner has had this lovely RP Box Saloon since 2016 when we sold it to him, in a sound, but ‘needing improvement’ condition. Indeed, since then, he has improved the car no end, to its now very good condition, including a full repaint in one of the favourite colour combinations, black and maroon. He has also carried out any necessary work to the mechanics and to the interior. The underside of the car is very clean and tidy and all the floors have been painted inside the car, together with the dashboard. The engine was fully rebuilt in 2015, along with a new clutch, and recently, the dynamo has been rebuilt. The wire wheels are in good condition with four matching tyres – hardly worn. The car starts easily and runs and drives very well with the correct oil pressure and no overheating. The gearbox, back axle and brakes are all good – this is a very nice-driving Austin Seven. Paperwork includes continuation book from 1976, current V5C and some old invoices.
