MG TD (LHD) 1953 – SOLD

MG TD (LHD) 1953

This excellent example of the highly popular MG TD model was first registered on 1st January 1953 in California, where it remained until around 1996, when it returned to the UK.  This owner kept the car until 2015.  Restoration work began in 2010 and was completed two years later. Most of the work was carried out by Beacon Garage, a garage well-known for fettling vintage and classic cars, and an excellent job was made – we believe £30,000 was spent at that time.  The car remains in truly first class condition, and is a pleasure to drive, with good performance, nice, light steering and no strange noises.  The restoration included extensive work to the chassis, running gear, body panels, braking system, suspension, wheels, engine and a new part-leather interior as per the original, by Collingburn, we understand.  The hood, tonneau cover and side screens were all renewed.  The high quality paintwork is still in superb condition.  The rebuilt engine starts easily and runs very well, with good oil pressure and no overheating.  Gearbox and rear axle are nice and quiet.  The underside of the car is also very good.  All in all, this is a fine example, ready for use, and would make an excellent car for European touring, or in fact, to be left at your villa in the South of France …?!  Equally at home on British roads – left or right-hand drive seems to make no difference to the driving experience.  The car comes with a file of restoration invoices, V5C and handbook.  Note – we have just sold a right-hand drive example in similar condition for £24,000 – so this is quite a bargain.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for other interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1980 MGB GT with Overdrive – SOLD

1980 MGB GT with Overdrive

An excellent, genuine low mileage MGB – 22,700 miles, with paperwork to support this.

The car is in extremely good condition with excellent bodywork, underside and interior, all as you would expect  from such a low mileage example.

The accompanying file of paperwork suggests that the car was off the road from 2015 for around seven years, when it was refreshed with a new coat of Snapdragon Yellow paint – a very good job indeed – and a full recommissioning was carried out at the end of that period to include five new tyres, new coolant, hoses, clips and new ignition parts along with an engine service, brake service and pads, new steering wheel, gaiters, wiper blades and an MOT.  It was also at this time that a sunroof was added.

The interior is very much like new.

The car starts immediately and runs very well, with good performance and nice, tight suspension, light steering and giving a very good ride.  The overdrive works fine and the engine itself seems to be in fine fettle, with good oil pressure. Quiet transmission.

When the car was first purchased as new, electric windows were added as an extra – these are great – and the car was Ziebarted, so the panel work appears to be all original and in good order.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase such a low mileage MGB.  Comes with V5C, MOT history and full set of original booklets including handbook and service record.

We are always looking to purchase good MGs or other interesting classics, and are pleased to consider part-exchange.  We can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

MGB Roadster with Overdrive 1974

This 1973-built MGB in British Racing Green was first registered on 1st January 1974, and was in long term ownership for 37 years.  It is the subject of an older restoration and remains in good condition, having been well maintained ever since.  It has been regularly and thoroughly Waxoyled, keeping the dreaded rust away.  The paintwork is generally good, although there are some age-related blemishes as you would expect.  The interior is good and serviceable with good seats and door cards, and the dashboard is excellent, not ‘interfered’ with, and fitted with a Moto-Lita steering wheel.  The well-fitting hood is canvas and in very good condition, with clear window and all clips working.  There is also a tonneau cover.  The underside of the car is structurally good and underneath the bonnet is clean and tidy.  The car starts easily and drives very well with good performance, working overdrive, good brakes and nice gearbox.  Good oil pressure.  Will come with new MOT.  Paperwork includes V5C, some old MOTs and handbook and workshop manual.
