1973 MGB Roadster – SOLD

1973 MGB Roadster with Overdrive

A truly superb MGB in excellent condition throughout, and a very quick example indeed.  The car was completely restored in 1995, including a Heritage shell which has stood the test of time incredibly well.  It was then refreshed in 2013/14 to include full leather interior and 5-speed gearbox.  Three years ago, the car was professionally repainted , and the bodywork remains in superb condition, with the best door gaps we have seen for some time, correct, corrosion-free sills and an excellent underside, still in red paint.  Although we have no paperwork, we suspect that the engine is probably a fast road version as it goes like the clappers!  Handling is good, enhanced by parabolic rear springs and adjustable Spax dampers.  The alloy wheels are in fine fettle and are fitted with matching Michelin tyres (no cheap budget tyres here!), and even the spare wheel is an alloy to match, and sits in the well-carpeted boot.  Good hood by Prestige, we think, and hood cover for those sunny days.  Good file of paperwork, Heritage Certificate, original handbook, MOT to 31st July 2024, V5C.  Serious enquiries only, please.

1937 Austin Seven Van Type AVJ – SOLD

1937 Austin Seven Van

This is a charming little Austin Seven van, a very desirable vehicle, manufactured back in 1937.  It comes with a Dating  Certificate from the Essex Austin Seven Club.  The van was extensively, and very well restored over a number of years to 2016 to include a full body renovation and rebuild of the mechanics.  A new wiring harness was fitted.  Most of the original panels were used, whilst the ash frame was renewed – so – original chassis and running gear, doors, side panels, etc.  The tyres have been replaced with a full set of Longstones and the wheels have been refurbished.  In excellent condition throughout, the vehicle is well finished a lovely dark blue.  The interior is very well finished in the correct period format, with the rear goods area having been professionally slatted out.  Up front, the dashboard is in nice condition with all its correct dials and the seats have been re-covered in dark blue leather cloth.  The roof covering has obviously been replaced and is good, whilst the underside and engine bay are both clean and tidy.  The van starts and runs well with good oil pressure.

1927 Austin Seven Gordon England Cup – SOLD

Austin Seven Gordon England Cup Re-creation (1927)

We are pleased to offer for sale this exceptional motor car, built in 1998/99, to exacting standards, as a tool room replica of the now extremely rare Gordon England coach built Austin Seven Cup model.  The car was built from a 1927 chassis (registered as manufactured 1927 on the V5C) and includes performance engine with Phoenix crankshaft, balanced rods and pistons, big valves, raised compression, Dante 4 branch exhaust manifold and SU carburettor, which produces 28 BHP at the rear wheels.  The car has been fitted with a coil conversion kit.  It was constructed by a well-known Austin specialist, with bodywork by Tom Abernathy.  We are told that this car is capable of 70 mph, but we haven’t tried that out.  A VSCC buff form was issued in April 2004.  This car is in superb condition including the fabric and aluminium bodywork, the paintwork is excellent and the underside of the car is very good indeed.  The leather upholstery, quality canvas hood and tonneau are all, again, in A1 condition.  The car starts on the button and runs well, offering good performance.  Comes with V5C and history file.  This is a rare opportunity, not to be missed.

1938 Morris 8 Series II Four Seater Tourer – SOLD

1938 Morris 8 Series II Four Seater Tourer

This smashing little Morris 8 Tourer, first registered on 12th April 1938, was restored in 1996, and has now developed a lovely patina.  Finished in maroon over black, with very good burgundy interior and black hood, side screens and hood cover, it is powered by a 918cc side-valve engine, rated as an 8HP car, and driven through a 3-speed gearbox, allegedly providing 40 mpg at 40 mph.  It starts easily, has good oil pressure and is a delight to drive – a marvellous vehicle for showing, or just popping down to the shops.  These Morris 8s are a pretty reliable form of pre-war motoring.  The structure is obviously good, having been restored, and the underside is clean and tidy.  The accompanying file of paperwork includes continuation book from 1954, MOT certificates from 1997 to 2012, a good set of photographs of the restoration, and workshop manual.  Just out of interest – the original price of this car £128 when new!

1969 MGB Roadster with Overdrive – SOLD

1969 MGB Roadster with Overdrive

Another very nice MGB, first registered in July 1969.  The car is in very good condition having been extensively restored in the early 2000s.  Finished in British Racing Green with chrome wire wheels, it has the benefit of overdrive, which works well.  The restoration included fully body refurbishment – with photographic record – and a new Ivor Searle engine, which we think has covered 14,000 miles since then.  The paintwork is in good condition with just few of the usual blemishes and the interior is  very good indeed, with black leather seats with piping.  The door cards and carpets are good, the hood cover and full length tonneau look to be almost brand new, as does the hood – although there is a little nick on one rear quarter-light.  The structure of this car is excellent following its body refurbishment, and the whole of the underneath is very clean and tidy.  The boot compartment, again, is in excellent condition and is carpeted, and the spare wheel matches the other four chrome wire wheels which are all in good condition.  The underside of the bonnet looks to be original but is  good and clean.  The engine starts easily and has plenty of power with good oil pressure, performance is good, as is the handling.

Comes with MOT to April 2024 (no advisories), excellent file of service history, old MOTs, Heritage Certificate and V5C.
