1936 Morris Eight 4-Seater Tourer – £8,950

1936 Morris Eight 4-Seater Tourer

We are delighted to offer for sale this very interesting Morris Eight Tourer – an affordable car offering plenty of space for four people, and even a dog!  The car has a very interesting history, well documented by extensive paperwork, including invoices, lots of old MOT certificates, buff-coloured log book, and details of its restoration back in the 1970s.  The current owner has even put together a list of previous owners, all the way back to 1943.  There is also an original handbook, together with a Morris Register manual.  Originally, the car began life as a saloon, and was rescued from a field by the restorer of the car in 1970 – we have the bill of sale from this transaction – the princely sum of £9 changed hands.  The bodywork at this stage, was so bad that a comprehensive rebuild was undertaken, and the car was converted to a tourer, using all original parts.  The engine is one of the Series I engines used by the military – these were surplus to requirements once the Centurion tanks were discontinued.  It has been very well maintained  over the years, and is in pretty good fettle, finished in Primrose Yellow with dark blue wings and blue Rexine interior.  The underside is structurally good and tidy, the paintwork is generally satisfactory, but has some age-related blemishes – all adds to the charming patina.  Good weather gear including hood, matching side screens and hood cover.  The car starts easily and drives well, with a nice gearbox – no clunks!!  It has covered only 15,500 miles from 1981, has been featured in three BBC documentaries and has worked 75 weddings!!  A terrific old car with a very interesting history – one to cherish and enjoy.

We are always pleased to consider part-exchange especially for good MGs, or for othe interesting classics, and we can offer economic delivery to most parts of mainland Britain.

We also sell cars on a commission basis – no sale, no charge.

1964 Ford MkI Cortina de-Luxe 1500 – £8,950

1964 Ford MkI Cortina

We are pleased to offer for sale, on behalf of a very good customer, this very attractively priced Ford Consul Cortina.  Prices of classic Fords have gone through the roof in recent years, so this particular car represents great value for money.  The car is very original, and quite rare these days, as it has its original column change gearbox, and bench front seat.  It has recently had a new distributor, clutch, master cylinder and slave cylinder, new battery, hoses and a few other bits and bobs besides.  The car starts first time and ticks over smoothly once warm, it drives very well indeed through its easy to use column change 4-speed gearbox.  There is bags of room for the whole family (and dog!) and sitting in the car is very comfortable and quiet.  The upholstery, including the original vinyl seats and headlining, is in very good order and the door cards have just been renewed.  The mechanics would appear to be all in good working order, and the bodywork is basically sound, but there is room for some improvement in this area, which would greatly enhance the value of the car.  The tyres are in good condition and the white wall rims fitted are removable if they aren’t your cup of tea, but they are, of course, a good period piece.   Mileage shows 62597, although we are unable to confirm if this is correct.  There is an MOT to August 2025, so ready for immediate use.  Comes with original Owner’s Handbook and Workshop Manual, classed as an historic vehicle, so no tax to pay.
(Please note – the Office Assistant doesn’t usually take part in test drives, but it is our friend’s car, and she really fancied a spin…!)

1967 MGB Roadster – 5 Speed – £7,995

1967 MGB Roadster

A very well-priced MGB Roadster, first registered in March 1967.  This car has been in the same ownership since 2012 and is nicely presented in Tartan Red, with black part-leather interior and black vinyl hood.  The car was partly restored a number of years ago including a full re-spray, and the mechanics were upgraded to a later tuned 18v MGB engine with 5-speed gearbox.  The engine improvements include fast road camshaft and polished cylinder head ports, all resulting in bags of power.  The 5-speed gearbox works well – a trusted improvement.  The running gear includes banjo rear axle, MGB GT wheels (slightly wider than Roadster wheels), and being of the disc type, these are very rare.  We are told the car has uprated springs and telescopic shock absorbers at the rear.  Now running on one 12v battery.  The upholstery has a nice ‘patina’ with full harness seat belts fitted together with sports steering wheel.  The hood is easily put up and is in very, very good condition.  The boot area is in good, tidy order as is the under-bonnet area – although a little extra cleaning under the bonnet would improve it.  Solid underside and good exhaust.  The engine starts easily and runs with good oil pressure.  A Kenlowe cooling fan has been fitted. You will certainly have some fun in this car!  MOT to August 2025, and classed as an historic vehicle so no tax to pay.

1935 Austin Seven Race Car – New Price £19,850

Austin Seven Race Car

We are very pleased to have been asked to sell this well-known Austin Seven race car, fondly known as Murtyl.  If you ‘google’ Chris Pearson Austin 7 Race Car, you will find a number of images of the car in action.  The car was built during 2014 -15 by Pigsty Racing, Austin Seven experts.  It was constructed around a short wheel-base model, with aluminium body by Yates, and race engine, built by Keith Dobson, to include pressure-fed crankshaft by Peter Pearson of Leyburn, SU carburettor, and electric water pump.  Apparently, the crankshaft is constructed of the same material as a Formula One car.  The car has a sports front axle, with twin shockers and runs on 15” wheels, currently fitted with Dunlop race tyres.  It has been raced for several years in France, with the 750 Motor Club in England, and at other prestigious events such as the AMOC Brands Hatch meeting in 2015, where it won the race, beating, in the rain, a mighty field of Bentleys, Lagondas, Astons etc and at an average speed of a tad under 60mph.  Many races were with Motor Racing Legends where it won its handicap on the full Brands Hatch Circuit.  Behind the seat, as you can see, is a partial list of dates and finish positions, which is pretty impressive for such a little car!  Furthermore, you will notice the names all over the car – these are, in the main, names of SOE agents, brave operatives who risked (and often gave) their lives behind enemy lines during the Second World War.  One of the names, Murtyl, is the name of a character featured in a series of novels by the car’s current owner.  Also comes with a bundle of paperwork. This is a serious car, for serious racing, so serious enquiries only, please (it’s not the sort of car you would want to take your mother out for tea in ..!!)

1934 Austin Seven Utility – £6,950

1934 Austin Seven Utility

First registered in February 1934, this intriguing little Austin Seven Utility Special started life as a box saloon, and was renovated and converted several years ago.  The vehicle would now make an excellent and interesting show car or advertising/promotional truck for many businesses.  We understand that the original idea was to display it as a ‘milk float’ carrying churns, to emulate the original Austin Seven milk delivery car of 1930.  The conversion has been carried out well, and retains its front cab with well-fitting doors.  Up front, the 750cc engine was rebuilt in 2020 and as you can see from our video, now runs very well.   The running gear, chassis, wheels etc are all original, and again, nicely restored.  The seats have been professionally recovered, whilst the rear load area is well fitted out, and even has its own lighting.  Come and have a look – you will love this delightful little Austin.
